A week in Rijeka is enough if you want to get to know many corners of the city in a relaxed way, to feel its atmosphere, and perhaps also to get into the city’s life rhythm.
Since Rijeka lies at a specific location, with excellent transport links to a number of places, be sure to spare a day or two for excursions. Here are some suggestions on how to spend a week in Rijeka.

Dedicate one day to Korzo and everything around it – many of Rijeka’s attractions are located just near the main promenade. You can view the city once again from a completely different perspective, that from the sea, if you take a walk along Molo Longo, Rijeka’s breakwater. If you had enough of walking, rent a bike.

Starting the day at the Placa, the Main Market, is the everyday routine of many of Rijeka’s inhabitants. Join them, and if you are staying in private accommodation and cooking for yourself, apart from sightseeing take the opportunity to get fresh food and do not miss the fish market! Inspired by Placa’s greenery, take a walk by the sea or choose one of the promenades around Rijeka.

Every direction you choose, you’ll always run into an interesting destination – Grobnik that, along with its proud castle, has a race track as well as the only remaining mill on the river Rječina that is still working, or on the other side, the beautiful Opatija, small but very special Volosko, charming Kastav… We could go on – in an hour or so you are already in the heart of Istria, on top of the Učka Mountain, on one of the beaches in Crikvenica or Novi Vinodolski, or you can cross the bridge and discover the island of Krk…

Spending a day on one of Rijeka’s beaches is also a good idea, and if it’s not swimming season, there is a swimming pool complex with a wellness centre for relaxation and a fitness areas. In the evening, have a good time in one of the clubs or bars in the centre, on the top floors of the buildings overlooking Korzo or on one of the ships in the port of Rijeka.

Learn about the stars in one of the most beautiful astronomical centres in Croatia and the region, offering a view of the sky as well as a view of the entire bay. If you like shopping, choose from one of the two large shopping centres (Tower Centre Rijeka and ZTC) or city shopping. Sport addicts will also find something for themselves in Rijeka.

Wherever you go, inform yourself first at our website (wireless Internet is free at several popular locations in the city), download one of Rijeka’s mobile applications on your cell phone and let them guide you, and if you still can’t find your way around, look for our Tourist Information Centre on Korzo or call +385 51 335 882.
