Park Lole Ribara is one of the most significant historical and urban spaces in Sušak, closely connected to the development of the city’s water supply system at the beginning of the 20th century. The construction permit for the Sušak waterworks was issued on 14 May 1912, marking the start of an important infrastructure project for the local population.
The water supply system was officially opened in March 1914. The central structure in the park is the water reservoir building known as Vidikovac, designed by engineer Milan pl. Eisenthal, whose work made a notable contribution to the technical and architectural development of Sušak.
At the entrance to the building, two commemorative inscriptions have been placed, bearing witness to the importance of this structure and the period of its construction. Beneath the reservoir, there is a pool with a fountain, turtles, and fish, adding to the park’s ambience and making it a popular place for rest and walks.
Park Lole Ribara thus represents a unique combination of technical heritage, architecture, and natural surroundings, preserving the memory of the beginnings of Sušak’s modern water supply system.
