The City of Rijeka has two pet beaches, one at the western side and the other at the eastern side of the city, both equipped with showers for dogs and easily accessible by car or on foot.

Pets can use public transport – smaller ones can be carried in a basket, i.e. transporter and if they are being held on the owner’s lap you don’t have to pay an additional ticket. Exceptionally, blind persons are allowed to enter the vehicle with a trained guide dog. Big dogs are allowed to use public transport only on Sundays and holidays from 5.00 to 7.00 a.m. and 8.00 to 9.00 p.m. Dogs are required to have a certificate of vaccination, wear a muzzle and be kept on a short leash, and adult person tickets should be paid for them.

If they need medical care, there are several veterinary clinics in the city, some of them offer grooming services as well.
