An array of restaurants, each boasting a unique charm, wait to be discovered and promise a memorable experience for everyone venturing into this culinary haven. Some offer a variety of dishes in the open air with a view of the port, while others provide cosy interiors that beckon you to make yourself comfortable and unwind.
But what truly makes this gastronomic port stand out is the food. From the freshest seafood caught just a few hours prior, to exotic international dishes – the choice is yours. Specialised chefs take pride in their craft, handpicking the finest ingredients and expertly preparing mind-blowingly delectable meals.
The Rijeka Gastronomic Ports project is a collaborative effort between the Rijeka Tourist Board and the companies Abisal and Gastronaut. It comprises 36 catering establishments with a total of 55 specialised gastronomic port titles under a joint brand that allows each restaurant to showcase their distinct offerings and services. Waves of Flavours of Rijeka
Waves of Flavours of Rijeka is a new gastronomic initiative by the Rijeka Tourist Board, building on the successful local quality label project “Rijeka’s Gastronomic Ports”. This initiative highlights the authenticity of local ingredients and the creativity of chefs, with seasonality at its core. Menus will evolve throughout the year, reflecting the availability of fresh, locally sourced produce. Following the spring edition, the program will continue with summer, autumn, and winter waves—each bringing fresh inspiration, seasonal ingredients, and innovative culinary approaches.
Visitors can expect more than just a meal. By bringing together local restaurateurs into a unified seasonal narrative, the program aims to create a distinctive gastronomic identity for the destination, encourage visits during the pre- and post-season, and further promote sustainable, locally driven cuisine.
During the Spring Wave of Flavours of Rijeka, taking place from April 15 to May 15, participating restaurants will offer a diverse range of culinary experiences—from creamy asparagus soups and shrimp risottos to brodetto, octopus salads, monkfish specialties, and contemporary interpretations of traditional dishes. In the end, it all comes down to simplicity, locality, and, above all, exceptional taste.

Participating restaurants include Bistro Mezanin, Bistro Paris, Restaurant ŠtoRija, Restaurant & Bar Nautica La Scarpeta, Konoba Tarsa, Botel Marina Restaurant, Bistro Mornar, Maslina na Zelenom Trgu, and Pastry Shop Slon by Moreno Debartoli.
