The City Museum of Rijeka is the best place for listening to stories about the storied, hectic, trading, manufacturing as well as the painting, architectural and photographic history of Rijeka!

The museum also collects as well as expertly and scientifically processing the museum’s holdings that pertain to the industrial, cultural and socio-political history of Rijeka. We keep our holdings in various collections from which we occasionally extract important objects in order to tell you how people used to live, work, paint…

The Music Collection holds well-preserved musical instruments and sound reproduction devices, the Art Collection comprises works created by artists who lived in Rijeka, while the Document Collection contains records documenting the city life of yesteryear. There is the Philatelic Collection and the Photography Collection of the works of photographers and motifs from Rijeka as well as the collection of theatre and film materials that includes graceful costumes from numerous plays. The Military History Collection mostly focuses on World War II, while an array of different publications from the 19th and 20th centuries is stored in the Printing Collection. Prodigiously produced paper items are kept in the Paper Mill Collection, while the Rijeka Industry Collection entails the products, tools and packaging of all Rijeka’s plants. The Technical Collection centres on the Rijeka Torpedo and then there is also the Numismatic, Securities and Medal Collection as well as the collection of everyday objects that includes everything from a needle to a locomotive!

The Cube premises will also host occasional exhibitions – our own and guest exhibitions.
