The Carnival Winter Games are a part of the Carnival Riviera, which brings fun and competition to the city’s carnival atmosphere. Traditional games such as musical chairs, ”fritula” (doughnut) eating contests and egg-and-spoon races are given a carnival flavour, while adding comedy, satire and a costumed ambience.

The competitions are accompanied by music and entertainment, with all the competitors receiving prizes as the goal of the games is to encourage unity, laughter and a carnivalesque critique of current events. The event is held in cooperation with the Rijeka Carnival Association.
