The Caroline of Rijeka souvenir is made of a ceramic locket with the face of Rijeka heroin Karolina Bellinich, who, according to legend, saved the city of Rijeka from bombardment by the French Fleet anchored in the port of Rijeka.
The figure of Karolina has been created according to an artistic copy of her portrait in oils which is preserved in the Rijeka Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Littoral. The locket is on a beige base and is framed with golden wooden frame.
The locket was modelled and fired twice at 1000 °C, and is decorated with real gilding fired at a temperature of 680°C. The souvenir construction is achieved as common idea for needs of the theatre show “Karolina Riječka” performed by the “Ivan pl. Zajc” Croatian National Theatre and with the help of Rijeka Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Littoral.
