On Sunday, February 12, Platak will be the gathering place for snowboarders from the region. The 12th Carnival Snowboard Session will be held there, which, in addition to an attractive competition, will bring a touch of the Rijeka Carnival to the ski trails above Rijeka. The 12th Carnival Snowboard Session will gather male and female riders from the region (Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Romania) to compete in the slopestyle discipline. It is a competition during which the contestants perform jumps and acrobatics. The prize fund of the competition is 1000 euros. The competition is also the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Snowboard Championship. The organizers are planning an accompanying program that will entertain not only the competitors but also everyone gathered on Platak.
The Carnival Snowboard Session has been organized by the Snowboard club Nine since its beginning in 2008 in different forms in the center of Rijeka with the desire to use the time of the Rijeka Carnival to popularize the sport. This will be the first time that CSS will be held on Platak, the place where most snowboarders from the region made their first moves on a snowboard. The organizers, who normally organize boarding schools on Platak, wanted to make use of the existing infrastructure, but also to enrich its offer with the combination of an attractive competition and a carnival atmosphere.
This year’s edition of the Carnival Snowboard Session is financially supported by the Rijeka Tourist Board, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Kvarner Tourist Board, the Goranski Sports Center and the Ski Association of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Media coverage by Kigo.hr.
